Free phone cards for military troops is great! This is a big advantage for military soldiers being assigned at far places especially in the mountain areas.
I was told initially that troops in Afghanistan had to use calling cards. My son then called from there saying that calls home were free.

It varies from base to base and from unit to unit. The vast majority of the troops have to pay for their calls.
