A Day of Sadness

My heart has been full of sadness all day - learning of the brutal murders of these fine young men ~ PFC Thomas Lowell Tucker and PFC Kristian Menchaca. I am grieving for their families and friends. I am grieving for all of the young men and women in the military who have been affected by this atrocity. And, I am grieving for our country - that people can act like nothing happened, can lay easy blame on anyone but the terrorists who were using them to represent us. And, I am ANGRY ~ angry that an atrocity like this happens and the citizens of this country are not outraged, not aware that they would like to do that to each of us.

I am keeping these families in my prayers.

The War Comes Close to Home

The reality of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are never far from our thoughts. We have spent time, treasure and prayers on these young men and women from the beginning. We have written to thousands, sent packages to hundreds, "adopted" many, become good friends with quite a few, and family to some. But, hearing that one of the soldiers MIA in Iraq, PFC Thomas Lowell Tucker, is from Madras - a teeny town near our small town, a town where K went to high school, the same high school Tucker went to - makes it even closer to home. We don't know the Tuckers, but we have walked in the same places, enjoyed the same things, and that makes us feel close to them now...and, helpless to make things any different.

Please keep our missing soldiers PFC Thomas Lowell Tucker and PFC Kristian Menchaca and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
