LCpl Nathan Windsor, Farewell and Walk with God

LCpl Nathan Windsor
October 16, 1986 - March 11, 2007
Died of Wounds received in
the al Anbar Province, Iraq
2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division,
I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, CA

LCpl Nathan Windsor, a son of Oregon, died from a gunshot wound received during combat operations in the al Anbar Province of Iraq.

LCpl Windsor was 20 years old. He was a graduate of Newport High School, class of 2005, in Newport, Oregon - on the pacific coast. He was a member of the wrestling team and was also involved in the video production program. He hoped to one day be a film producer. He enjoyed snowboarding, all-terrain motorcycling and video games.

Around the New Year, home on pre-deployment leave, he visited his teachers at Newport High School. His history teacher referred to him as, "such a good man, a good citizen... just one of those individuals you could trust."

He joined the Marines the day after his 19th birthday. "I could never get him to leave the house looking clean and pressed and taking pride in himself, but once he became a Marine he would not leave without the proper crease and everything in line. He was so proud to be a Marine. He always made sure he looked his best whenever he wore that uniform," said his father, Robert Windsor.

"He was patriotic, even as a little kid. As we have looked back through his photographs and some of his early drawings, it was amazing to see that he put an American flag in his pictures. He believed strongly in his country and standing up for what was right. The kid had a heart as big as the ocean."

He is survived by his father, Robert Windsor, mother and step-father, Leslie and David Elliot, brother, Lucas Elliot. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Rochelle Davis.

We will keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
Farewell, Nathan, and Walk with God.

The Patriot Guard Riders will be meeting his flight into Oregon today and escorting him throughout the events of his memorials and internment.

LCpl Windsor will be honored in a ceremony in Huntington Beach, California on Dec 17, 2007

Thanks for the tributes this week and every other, Flag.
As a result they, along with all our other warriors will stay in our prayers until they are brought home as complete victors against all that is evil in that crazy sandbox from hell over there

Thank you for this wonderful bio. As a member of "Marine Moms Online", we search the web looking for as much personal information as we can find about our fallen heroes -- so we can send condolences to the Marine Mom closest to the family who steps forward to receive them all, and assemble them into a book to present to the family. Tributes such as yours are priceless.

Well son it's been 4 months since we got the news of your brave sacrifice and although we miss you there's not a day goes by that I don't bust my buttons with pride that you are my son. We had your ceremony last month in Indiana and have kept you with the family. We also had a beach ceremony with your friends from Newport and we met at the place where you liked to hang out, thanks for the wonderful painted sky. There are so many that wish they would have gotten to know you better but all are proud of you. I love you son,.. and I miss you so much.

Love,
Dad

I can't believe it's been a year son. Seems like only yesterday you were being the fun loving kid that everyone loved. You grew up in what now seems like a blink of an eye. Today as in every day we honor your courage, dedication, love, and sacrifice.

I carry you with me every day. I pass along your story to whomever will lend an ear. I hope you know just how proud I am of you and how much your Dad really loves you.

I love you son,
Dad

To the parents of Nathan,
My heart goes out to you for your loss. My son, Lcpl Layton Crass was a friend of Nathans and was greatly affected by his death. No parent should lose a child, but we are so proud of him for his courage and sacrifice. He will always be remembered in this family. God bless you and all his family and friends. Mr & Mrs Crass

I saw Nathanial's bedroom in the photo gallery THE SHRINE DOWN THE HALL. The Marines poster really stood out. My deepest sympathies. I would like to change the world and bring Nathanial back home to his room.
