General Peter Pace's Retirement Speech
This is well worth the listen....
The first thing I see when I look out my window is my flag of the United States of America blowing in the breeze. Often, I will sit and gaze at the flag - great focus for thinking. These are my musings and ramblings, and, on occasion, rants... I am unapologetic in my support of our military, our country and my devotion to God. I will honor them and pay tribute to them here. Along the side bar you will find tributes to Oregon's fallen warriors.

There is so much truth in his speech.
It gave me goosebumps listening to it.
Too bad our politicians don't have a hundreth of a percent of his dignity.
He is my hero...
Gen. Pace is the first MArine in history to hold the position as chairman of the joint chiefs. THis was a bold and historic move on the part of President Bush.
He is a true hero and a warrior. I am actually sad to see him go.
I'm late to the party, Flag Gazer, but wanted to thank you for posting this, nonetheless. I missed watching his farewell in real time (kinda unusual for me), but I'm VERY glad I got to see the video.
General Pace was one of the few men left on active duty who served in Viet Nam and he obviously took a lot of profound lessons away from that experience. The military establishment will be a lot poorer without men such as he in senior leadership positions.
Thanks again.
He's my hero, too.
I've very much enjoyed your recent coverage of Gen Pace, FG. Incredibly inspiring, but awfully sad.
Would like to have a text copy of that address
