Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Military Spouse
Appreciation Day

Military Spouses - Our Silent Heroes

Military Spouse Appreciation Day was first celebrated in 1984 when then-President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the observance to honor the contributions of military spouses. It is celebrated on the Friday before Mother's Day each year to pay tribute to the spouses who play a vital role in the nation's defense.

They serve beside those in uniform, selflessly relocating homes and assuming new responsibilities at each assignment. They understand long hours, exercises and deployments and give their spouses strength to drive on when duty calls.

Do you know a military spouse? Email them, call them, let them know we all appreciate what they do each day.

Please read the letter from Ben Stein to military spouses below.

This post is dedicated to my military spouse friends and the spouses at these blogs:

Mrs. Badger 6 spouse to Badgers Forward
Ashlee spouse to Global War on Terror
Love My Tanker at My Life As a Military Spouse

And, to Michelle and baby Emma born May 3 - we are thankful Christopher made it home from Iraq just in time to see Emma into the world. She is just beautiful!!!

And, of course, to Bobbie - first a soldier who served in Iraq, then a bride and now the support of her 1SG husband. She is an amazing lady!

Our love and gratitude to all of you!

The military spouses from our team always took care of the single guys, too, luckily for me. They are the best! They put up with more than we ever did.

It is tough to be a military spouse. My wife to this day reminds me of those days when I was in the military how much she missed me. She is a truly devoted wife, and I pray daily for those in the military and their family. Great post, Flag Gazer.
