Bringing Music to the Troops!

Operation Happy Note

Operation Happy Note is a vlounteer effort to send musical instruments to our deployed troops around the world.

Steve and Barb Baker from Fergus Music in Minnesota started Operation Happy Note after their son was deployed to Iraq. They had sent him a guitar and then a buddy wanted one. These soldiers were so pleased with having these instruments over there that Steve and Barb wanted to find a way to get more instruments to our troops, hence “Operation Happy Note”. In the last year we have sent 36 guitars, 4 mandolins, a banjo, 3 ukuleles, dozens of harmonicas, tambourines, extra strings, picks, guitar straps and books. “ We can’t stop now!” says Barb just because her son is now back home with his family. There are just too many requests that keep coming in, these soldiers need the joy that music brings to them.

Ukes for Troops is another organization started by a military Mom, Anita Coyoli-Cullen. She and her partner, Shirley Orlando, send Ukeleles and beginning play books to the deployed troops. To request instruments for troops or donate to their cause, please visit their website.
