US Military Gives Christmas Joy to America!!

Each year the United States Military is quietly involved in sending Christmas joy to many Americans. There are big programs and small programs. There are national programs and local programs. But, all of these efforts are just one more way that the military shows its love and care for America. Three of these programs are listed below.

Track Santa with NORAD

Santa Visits NORAD before his flight!! NORAD has been tracking Santa since 1955. Each year, NORAD has a Santa Cam where you can watch Santa's flight around the world. In addition to Chrsitmas Eve tracking, there are games, music, maps, a Christmas countdown clock (Is it Christmas yet???), and you can email Santa!!!

Toys For Tots

Toys for Tots is a national program to collect toys for children who otherwise might not have much of a Christmas. It began in 1947. Toys for Tots operates, not only in the United States, but in countries where Marines are stationed. This year, we sent Toys for Tots to Baghdad and Okinawa, as well as our local drive. You can find a drop-off point or donate here for Toys for Tots.

Santa's Mailbag

This is a program operated out of Eielson Air Force Base, where children can send a letter to Santa and receive a letter back from Santa Claus, postmarked from the North Pole. This program has been going on for more than 50 years. The volunteer members from the combat weather flight read the letters and respond. Last year, they sent over 4,000 letters. You can read more about the program here.

I don't know how anyone can say that our troops have no compassion and are "killing machines"! They are so blind! Thank you for sharing yet more proof that our men and women in uniform are AWESOME!
